Dr. Richard Horacek’s interest in dentistry began when he had a remarkable childhood dentist. He played basketball for Western New Mexico University and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico. He studied dentistry at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where he graduated with honors. He was awarded an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship at Creighton. After dental school he served three years in the Air Force, where he was awarded Officer of the Year in 2005, and received advanced training in all specialties of dentistry. With the extensive education while in the Air Force he is able to treat many conditions in the office.

Dr. Horacek is a member of the American Dental Association, the Oregon Dental Association, the Multnomah Dental Society, and volunteers for Give Kids a Smile. When not practicing dentistry he enjoys cycling, skiing and spending time with his wife Courtney, and their three children.

Dr. Neil Gehred's interest in dentistry starts with his desire to know all his patients personally, and to treat them compassionately, and professionally.  Once a high school teacher, Dr. Gehred has found his passion in educating patients about their oral health.  He first graduated with honors from The University of Notre Dame.  He completed his dental education at Creighton University School of Dentistry, where he also graduated with honors.  While at Creighton, he received multiple awards in Oral Pathology, Restorative Dentistry, and received the William S. Kramer Award for excellence.  Originally from New Mexico, Dr. Gehred was drawn to Portland for it's vibrancy and deep sense of community for families.  Dr. Gehred lives in Northeast Portland with his wife Nicole and their three children.  He spends half his week at Wilshire Dental in Northeast Portland, and the other half at Gehred & Horacek Dental in Southeast Portland.  Doctor Gehred is a member of the American Dental Association, the Oregon Dental Association, the Multnomah Dental Society, and serves on the Creighton School of Dentistry Alumni Advisory Board.  He is also an active member in the 42^nd Ave Business District.  In his free time, Dr. Gehred enjoys discovering the Pacific Northwest with his family. 

Drs. Gehred and Horacek were classmates and friends throughout their dental training at Creighton University.  They share a common mission and values in the practice of dentistry.  They have two convenient office locations.  Gehred & Horacek Dental in Southeast Portland and Wilshire Dental in Northeast Portland.

Dr. William C. Herzog was raised in Milwaukie, Oregon; graduating from the University of Oregon in 1970 and the University of Oregon Dental School in 1973.  He has enjoyed a 36 year career in all phases of general and cosmetic dentistry.  At 24 years old, Dr. Herzog was one of the youngest dentists ever to begin practicing in Oregon.  He was also one of the first general dentists to be certified in IV sedation in 1975.  A father of three, he has always lived in the South East suburban area with his wife of 36 years, Teri. Other than dentistry; golf, aerobic exercise, and college sports are his passions.
